For Kiare de Goeij, studying at NZST was the launchpad for a life of global adventure. Her qualification helped her secure roles across Europe and New Zealand - from ski resorts in Austria and luxury lodges in Taupō to seafood restaurants in the Netherlands.
Today, she’s living her dream as a Perth-based cabin crew member. “It’s better than I could have dreamed,” she says.
Prepared for the Industry
Kiare credits NZST’s wide range of subjects, high grooming standards, and interactive learning environment for preparing her for both tourism and aviation. “My cabin crew ground school felt similar to NZST — the weekly study and exams made it easy to adapt.”
39 Countries and Countless Experiences
Since graduating in 2022, she has solo-travelled to 39 countries, taking seasonal tourism and hospitality roles along the way. Highlights include hotel reception in Queenstown with perks like free jet boating, fine dining in Taupō, speaking Dutch at a restaurant in the Netherlands, and a challenging but memorable season at an Austrian ski resort.
Living the Dream
As newly operational cabin crew based in Perth, Kiare cherishes moment after moment — from completing her first safety demo to waking up to Cairns’ beach views, sipping espresso martinis by the Sydney Opera House, and seeing Uluru for the first time.
Kiare’s Advice
“My advice is to get out into the world and try everything — you never know which roles you’ll end up loving. Use this time to discover what you enjoy while building skills and confidence. The airline recruitment process can be long and daunting, but it’s absolutely worth it. Keep your dreams at the frontline and commit to whatever it takes to get there.”
