Reimagine tourism and travel in the future - Meet Elijah Maisog

The New Zealand School of Tourism is the epicentre for bright-minded talent wanting to develop world-ready skills to infuse themselves in the fast pace of the industry.

Elijah Maisog is forging her career aspirations with NZST, with dreams to one day become a flight attendant.

Success looks different for every student. For Elijah, success means broadening her horizons and gaining experience in fields her family have not ventured before. 

Next year, Elijah will graduate with a Level 6 Diploma in Travel and Tourism  – a monumental achievement for Elijah and her family. With dreams to work abroad and meet people from around the world, Elijah hopes to model the determination and bravery of her parents, early New Zealand settlers from the Philippines.

“Students in this course come away with valuable skills like communication, problem-solving and customer service. NZST is my ticket to the world equipping me with the skills that can take me anywhere.”

For nearly 10 years, NZST has been placing students in the Walt Disney World internship programme in the United States.

Upon graduation, Elijah plans to apply for the internship programme to gain hand-on experience with the number one theme park in the world – her launch pad into the workforce.
