27 May 2019 – Walt Disney World Recruiters arrived in New Zealand to interview and recruit New Zealand School of Tourism (NZST) students for internships in 2020. They left this week, after interviewing 84 students, and will return in September.

The opportunity to apply for a Disney internship is available to all NZST students completing level 4 or level 5 programmes, and have studied for a minimum of 32 weeks, are 18 years or over when interviewed, and are a citizen of New Zealand or Australia.

Competition is fierce, and understandably, as the benefits are what you could only wish for, and include: a free pass to all Disney Parks; discounts on merchandise; paid work in Theme Park Operations, Hospitality & Hotel Operations, Lifeguard, Entertainment, Food & Beverage Service, Retail and Merchandise arenas; plus importantly, the ability to gain 30 credits towards the NZST Diploma.

With the partnership between Walt Disney World and NZST spanning five years, the recruitment process is a well-oiled machine. The interviews take place at NZST campuses in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland twice a year.

NZST Stakeholder Manager, Bronwen Wilkinson said, “At the New Zealand School of Tourism we’re very proud of the close industry partnerships we have developed. It means we can offer amazing internship and employment opportunities to our students and graduates. Twice a year our students have the opportunity to apply, which is a great incentive”.
